Followed by the youth-group 10km race walking and half marathon of the 13th Liaoning Provincial Games on May 13, from May 14 to May 15, another fierce track and field competition—youth-group race walking of the Provincial Games will be held in Dalian. It will be on No.3 Road inside the Sports Center. Approximately 150 athletes from prefectural and municipal teams in the province will be divided into Group A and Group B according to age, and they will compete in 8 individual (Group A men’s 10km and 20km race walking, and women’s 5km and 10km race walking; Group B men’s 10km and 20km race walking, and women’s 5km and 10km race walking) and 2 team (men’s 5+10+20km race walking, and women’s 3+5+10km race walking) events.

       The Provincial Games is held every four years, and it is the comprehensive sports event of the largest scale in Liaoning Province, which is a feast that fully demonstrates the level of competitive sports in Liaoning Province. This Provincial Games is set up with 32 sports (e.g. football, basketball, volleyball, table tennis, badminton, tennis, track and field, swimming, snow and ice, etc.) and 798 disciplines. It is estimated that approximately 13,000 athletes will participate in this Games.

       Besides youth race walking, the Sports Center will also undertake the tennis competition of the Provincial Games in July. With the coordination and guarantee of the tennis competition of the Provincial Games as the warm-up, the Sports Center will hold Dalian Tennis Open in September. In the meantime, athletes participating in 10km, half marathon, race walking, and tennis events from each city of the province will stay in the athletes’ apartments of the Sports Center.

       With competition as the lever, this Provincial Games is aimed at further discovering and selecting reserve talents of competitive sports while enhancing the physical quality of adolescent students. For the professional youth group, it is consisted of the delegation from each city. In this way, the cultivation and development of reserve talents of youth competitive sports will be thoroughly promoted in the province.
