2016-2017 City Youth Greenery Project "Mayor Cup" Tournament Starts

       From March this year, Dalian City Youth Greenery Project "Mayor Cup" Tournament, a key annual livelihood project of 2016-2017 of the municipal government, officially began in the Sports Center. There is a breakthrough with this year's "Mayor Cup" Tournament in terms of both the size of the organization and the operation and management. The 1200 small players of the 60 elite teams selected from the city will be divided into four age groups to play in the afternoon of every Wednesday and Saturday in the Olympic external field, Northeast Road Primary School, and the Sports Center.

       As a football city, Dalian has output more than 500 football players to represent the Chinese football team, and this is inseparable to its focus on the cultivation of young players. The implementation of "Greenery Project" to foster the reserve young football talents of Dalian began in 2006, and the Sports Center officially became one of the permanent fields from 2015. By hosting the event for more than two years, it has witnessed that the Tournament is gradually developing into a high level youth brand competition, Dalian campus football population has gradually increased, and the city youth training system has basically achieved the "quantity accumulation." At the same time, the youth football "Greenery Project" with the focus on large-scale training of young football talents as well as extensive youth soccer matches and coaches training has also identified and cultivated a large number of flexible talents with potential and strong points for the Dalian football to promote the sustainable development of Dalian football undertaking.
