Ganjingzi District Primary and Secondary School Swimming Contest Came to 

a Successful Conclusion

       On May 26, as the important event dedicated to the cultivation of reserve talents of youth swimming, constitution improvement of teenagers, and promotion of youth swimming sport—Ganjingzi Primary and Secondary School Swimming Contest came to a successful conclusion in the Natatorium of the Sports Center. A total number of 190 youth swimmers from secondary and primary schools, and clubs in each district participated in this contest. Teenagers actively participated in this contest, with the number of participants exceeding that of previous years.

       This contest is classified into school groups and club groups. Each group is divided into three sub-groups in accordance with the age. Different aged groups have different swimming competitions. It includes 50m and 100m butterfly stroke, backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle, men’s and women’s 4×50m freestyle relay and medley relay, mixed 4×50 freestyle relay, and leg kick of some of the aforesaid.

       Before the competition started, the stands were crowded with lots of fans, who were parents and friends of youth swimmers; youth swimmers stretched themselves and did warm-up by the pool, and were about to showed themselves in the water. With the order of the judge, the competition formally started. Youth swimmers jumped into the pool with splash of water. Some shoot ahead like flying fish and some kept on catching up with swimmers who were in leading positions though lagged behind. Many participants were so well-matched that the competition was so fierce. Sometimes scenes appeared that some swimmers were neck and neck with each other. On the spot, continuous cheers, hurrahs and applauses came out from the Natatorium, with one climax after another.

       At least one youth swimming contest is held in the Natatorium of the Sports Center each year. These events not only enrich teenagers’ extra-curriculum life but also provide a demonstration and communication platform for youth swimming enthusiasts, and are conducive to the popularization of knowledge of swimming among teenagers and enhance teenagers’ swimming skills.
